Acupuncture
Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine has helped billions of people over the past 5,000 years. Acupuncture care helps to relieve symptoms and signs of many health problems. It can also uncover the underlying root cause(s) of those symptoms.
The goal of this dynamic and integrated health care system is to activate the natural, self-healing abilities of the body. It can also strengthen and support the body to prevent future illnesses and diseases.
Acupuncture is a method of encouraging the body to promote natural healing and improve function. This is done by inserting sterilized, stainless-steel needles (that are as fine as a human hair) into specific points located near or on the surface of the skin which have the ability to alter various biochemical and physiological conditions in order to treat a wide variety of illnesses.
Acupuncture is safe, natural, drug-free and effective. The perfect way to get well and stay healthy. Click here for more information on How Acupuncture Works. Our Oriental Medicine Techniques include: Acupuncture, Exercise Movements, Auricular Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine, Cupping, Electro-Acupuncture, Qi-Gong, Moxibustion, Scalp Acupuncture, Acupressure/Tui-Na, Gua Sha, Tai Chi.
Herbal Therapy
Chinese Herbal Medicine is one of the major pillars of Traditional Chinese Medicine, a comprehensive health care system used for over 3,000 years in China and in the world today.
Chinese Herbal Medicine is one of the great herbal systems of the world with an unbroken tradition going back to the 3rd century BC. People in China have been using natural herbs to treat a wide variety of diseases and conditions for thousands of years.
Chinese Herbal Medicine is composed of over 5,000 plant (composed of roots, bark, flowers, seeds, fruits, leaves and branches), mineral and animal substances. However, about 600 of these herbs are commonly used.
These herbs are combined into formulas that address health problems and support the mind-body system. Chinese Patent herbs are premixed herb combinations according to the traditional formulas developed by experts in traditional Chinese medicine over 3000 years.
They are similar to over-the-counter-drugs and usually in the form of pill, capsule and liquid. The advantages of Chinese patent herbs are convenient, ease to take, less expensive.
Prescribed herbs are mixed by a herbalist according to an individual patient’s symptoms and diagnoses. In general, prescribed herbs are more effective than patent herbs because the prescribed herbs are tailored to your symptoms and conditions exclusively by your herbalist.
Herbs can treat a wide variety of diseases and conditions. Compared with chemical medicines, Chinese Herbal Medicine is much more gentler and safer because it is made of natural herbs.
Most of Chinese herbs do not cause side effects. Even some side effects that do occur among a few herbs, those side effects can be easily counteracted with other herbs.
For these reasons, people turn to herbal therapy for a number of indications. More and more people rely on Chinese Herb Medicine as an alternative after chemical medicines failed.
Nutrition
Nutritional therapy is more than just finding the right foods to eat. This is a complete lifestyle and mindset shift. We offer guidance and coaching to patients that are committed to healing their bodies, to eating well and to take responsibility and control in their life.
We also use Functional Lab Screenings to find further healing opportunities that healthy food alone can not resolve.
Our goal is to aid in healing and rebuilding the integrity of the gut and digestion tract through the use of specific supplements and herbal remedies.
It is important to eat well but also figure out if the body is able to assimilate and utilize the nutrients we ingest as food or nutritional supplements. This goes along with rehabilitating our detoxification pathways.
Detox
Detoxification is the removal of the waste products of normal metabolism from the body as
well as toxic substances/ pathogens, which is mainly carried out by the Liver.
Detoxification is an important part of keeping our body healthy. If your detoxification pathways are blocked or in poor condition then the body can not fully get rid of toxic waste buildup.
The more toxic waste that your body is not able to get rid of, the more health problems you will experience.
There are 3 phases :
- Phase I Detoxification
The body uses enzymes and nutrients to transform the bad guys (toxins, used hormones, RX drugs, food additives, etc). Goal
is to begin neutralizing a toxin and start to make it into a water-soluble compound that can be excreted. At this halfway point, toxin reactivity actually increases and can cause problems if it does not continue to phase 2 right away. - Phase II Detoxification
Acts after phase 1 as the final transformation of the toxin, making it water soluble for
removal from the body then –
Amino acids (building blocks of protein) drive phase 2, as they attach to the toxins to further neutralize and escort them out
of the body. - Phase III – Elimination
Lastly, the toxins are eliminated out the digestive track via bile, or via the kidneys in urine.
Manual Lymph Drainage
Manual Lymph Drainage sessions are only done on Thursdays and Friday, for new patients, a consultation will be needed.
When detoxing the body, Traditional Chinese Medicine suggests cleansing the body at every change of the seasons.
Our Lymphatic System plays an important role in the immune system and helps maintain the balance of fluids in the body. Lymph nodes filter out harmful cells for removal by the body’s defense system.
Like a drainage system, fragile vessels carry lymph, composed of extra fluid, protein, dead cells, bacteria and cellular waste products from body tissues back towards the circulatory system. When we change our regular lifestyle routine, change our diet, move to other parts of the country with different vegetation and the associated allergens, succumb to stresses of all sorts, acquire new pets or have health challenges, we might want to push the reset button on our body’s lymph system.
Lymph flow is activated by contraction of lymph vessels, muscle movement during exercise, and deep breathing.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a specific, slow and gentle massage, mimicking the body’s own rhythm of lymph flow.
MLD, administered by a trained therapist, stimulates that flow and brings about a general detoxification of the body.
Functional Medicine
We utilize functional lab tests to uncover healing opportunities and guide your therapy journey.
By analyzing saliva, blood, urine, and stool, we gain valuable insights into your body’s functioning—focusing on hormone balance, immune health, digestion, detoxification, energy production, and the nervous system.
Our office uses these tests to create personalized programs tailored to your specific results. Lab reports are carefully interpreted with respect to your unique genetic potential, personal history, environment, lifestyle, metabolic type, and current health concerns.
Lab screenings provide objective criteria with which we engage patient’s in a process of education, self care, commitment and patient responsibility.
We are your partner in health, but you yourself must be committed to reaching your health goals.
Pain Management
Our office uses several different modalities to aid in pain management. Consistent treatments can help alleviated chronic pain. Along with acupuncture, our office will recommend cupping to release tension and increase blood flow. Cupping is similar to a deep tissue massage.
We also offer infrared sauna. An infrared sauna can help with pain management and lower inflammation. For more information regarding health benefits click here.
We also us an infrared light therapy device that emits “low-level light” and uses specific wavelengths to stimulate the body responses and can increase circulation, accelerate tissue repair, ease muscle pain, relieve joint stiffness, and enhance overall cell performance on a microscopic level. Infrared light therapy works by boosting cellular energy to encourage and enhance the body’s natural healing abilities.
Another device we have at the office for pain management is a PEMF device. Pulsed electromagnetic field therapy (PEMF) reduces inflammation, stimulate cell metabolism and can help you recover faster from an injury. These devices work on a cellular level for healing as well.
Both of these devices are safe non invasive medical grade equipment and FDA approved.
Thermography
Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging (DITI)
At this time our office is holding off Thermography Scans until further notice.
